About Susan

Susan Morrison Williams SMW ConsultancySusan Williams has an extensive background in marketing and communications with a specialty in branding. After graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder, she began her career at Tracy-Locke Advertising in Denver and worked in media and production. She then spent nearly three decades in San Francisco working for Bank of America, DFS Group Ltd., and managing her own consultancy with clients as varied as Stanford University, Bloomingdales, Ariat International and Charles Schwab.During her tenure with Bank of America’s Corporate Marketing and Advertising groups, Susan was responsible for managing multi-million dollar corporate advertising budgets, two re-branding projects involving company-wide signage changes, the design and construction of new store prototypes, brand architecture and public private partnerships between KCET-TV and the San Francisco Opera, and all design standards for the company.

Bank of America fueled Susan’s love for the integration of brand and design, as well as research, and led her to DFS Group Ltd., the leading luxury shopping destination for sophisticated global travelers. As Vice President of Brand Strategy and Market Research, she was instrumental in the launch of a new definition in experience and style for the company and its flagship store strategy in the eleven countries in which it operated.

Susan returned to Colorado to work with Western Union as a Director of Retail Marketing, in order to develop and implement a new retail marketing strategy for all of its stores around the world, and then to work as the Director of Marketing and Communications for a private boutique wealth management firm developing strategies and implementing programs that helped the firm achieve one hundred percent growth in assets under management, despite the difficult economic environment.
